Quint Contemporary Art is pleased to be exhibiting at the third annual artMRKT San Francisco at the Festival Pavilion - Fort Mason Center. artMRKT San Francisco, the Bay Area's premier contemporary and modern art fair, will feature 70 galleries from around the globe, bringing some of the world's most intriguing artists and galleries to San Francisco. In showcasing historically important work alongside relevant contemporary pieces and projects, artMRKT will create an ideal context for the discovery, exploration and acquisition of art.

Quint Contemporary Art will be exhibiting a solo presentation of Lee Materazzi photographs from her most recent series - Finding Myself at Home. A series of work composed in an everyday setting and layered with meaning and art historical references.

"Throughout this series, Finding Myself at Home, there are many references to performance art from the 70's such as Charles Ray's "Plank Piece", mimicked with "Coffee Table Piece", and Anna Mendieta's "Siluetas" reminiscent in "Level with My Backyard". In this work the void of the silhouette carved into the backyard is filled with the body and the sprinkler system has gone on. It's as though the subject could not resist the temptation of filling and playing in the void that has been created. Both works attempt to achieve a resolution of the body's role within contemporary art but their success ultimately lies within their juvenile failures. Again, the game becomes the locus."
      - Lee Materazzi, 2012

Materazzi's photographs are on the edge of the absurd. They are composed as if the body is being used in a sculptural way, the sculptural quality inherent in the representations add a certain dimension to the photographs. The physicality of the photograph's subject are reminiscent of performance art and the image of a female body in art, reimagined.
