      Open Cockpit Days (Free Family Activity)

      Cockpits of several aircraft will be open so kids and adults can experience U.S. Marine Corps aviation from a pilot’s perspective. Strap into an ejection seat, put on a helmet, talk to pilots and try your luck with an “I Spy” activity. See 31 historical aircraft up close as well as hundreds of artifacts from the earliest days of aviation to the present day. Free admission and parking. Open Cockpit Days are a family friendly activity that will be hosted every other weekend during the summer from May 25th to September 1st. Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum, 4203 Anderson Ave, San Diego. Museum entrance is on Miramar Rd., 3.9 miles east of I-805 and 1.3 miles west of I-15. (Look for the Marine Corps and American flags at the entrance.) Open Tues-Sun, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm. www.flyingleathernecks.org. 858-693-1723.
