Regulation of Neural Function in Health and Disease - SBP's 40th Annual Symposium 2019

SBP's 40th Annual Symposium 2019“Regulation of Neural Function in Health and Disease” Hosted by: Drs. Jerold Chun, Randal J Kaufman, Barbara Ranscht, Huaxi Xu Friday, November 1, 2019Estancia Hotel And Spa - La Jolla, CA About the SymposiumThe symposium will showcase recent research on the regulation of neuronal functions in health and in neurological and degenerative disorders. The focus will be on biological processes that enable and sustain neuronal functions at the cell- and circuitry level with strong mechanistic components and application of state-of-the-art technologies. Invited speakers are leaders in the field, from around the world. Attendees are welcome to present posters, and a few short (3 min) talks will be selected based on submitted abstracts to highlight the accompanying posters. The program will allow ample opportunity throughout the day for networking. Speakers Karen Hsiao Ashe“Jilt Aβ, love tau?”Minneapolis VA Medical Center Don Cleveland“Designer DNA drug therapy for neurodegenerative disease”Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research Marco Colonna“TREM2-dependent and -independent cellular responses in Alzheimer’s disease”Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis Alison Goate“Rare and Common Genetic Variation implicate microglial function in Alzheimer’s disease risk”Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Thomas Klausberger“Neuronal circuits of the prefrontal cortex for decision making”Medical University Vienna Robert C. Malenka“Neural mechanisms of social reward”Stanford University School of Medicine Eliezer Masliah“Progress and opportunities toward advancing the National Plan to Address AD and related dementias”National Institute of Aging KEYNOTE SPEAKERThomas Südhof“Synapse function in health and disease”Stanford University School of Medicine Poster SessionWe encourage abstract submission for posters. The poster session will provide a unique opportunity for junior investigators and postdocs to highlight emerging science on cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate neuronal functions in health and disease. Click here to submit your abstract. Please submit your abstract by October 18, 2019. Power Talks(selected from poster submission)A few abstracts will be selected for authors to feature their work in a short (3 min) oral presentation to advertise their poster.
