Vista High School - Technology Careers Day 2019

If you are a technology company, college or job training program in CS/IT or engineering this is an excellent opportunity to speak directly to 2,200 High School students who are looking for a future career. Most students don't know what software engineer or hardware engineering even does - let alone know details about your company's products or services. We encourage you to participate and bring up awareness of technology careers and all the great opportunities waiting for them in the industry. Students need not only exposure, but pathways to get into a tech career from high school along with connections and mentors. Who should participate: Any information technology or development dept of company, software developers and engineers, web developers, dev ops, data scientists, mobile developers, tech marketing specialist and product managers, networks engineers, hardware engineers - any company, dept involved with CS/IT. All colleges and university CS depts should participate as well as boot camps and opensource groups. Inspire the next generation. There are many ways to participate in this day-long event: 1 - A career speakers session with 30-120 students. 2 - Class-specific speaking sessions with a class related to your company and products and/or services. 3 - A group Q & A panel with other manufacturers with 30-120 students. 4 - A table at the Tech Careers Expo during lunch (11:30-12:30) - Recommended for all groups participating. 5 - A hands-on activity or demonstration with a group of students. 6 - An industry advisory and roundtable session with instructors, counseling and program coordinators. You can choose one or all six depending on your availability. While the expo portion is open to all groups, speaker and panel sessions have limited spots. The speaker sessions are about 45 min of talk and interaction time (a class period). For each participant in the Expo portion at lunch: You will be provided with a 3ft x 6ft table with 2 chairs and you are free to bring any materials, flyers or displays that you need to use. If you have a standard table size display for trade shows - the table is about the same size as most convention facilities. If you have special needs such as power or have complex setup (such as a booth), please contact us prior to the event day so we can accommodate your needs. The Expo is held outside in the main quad during lunch with all 2,200 students present. For participants in the speaking sessions or panels: You are free to bring any materials, flyers or hand-outs and are encouraged to do so. You can show slides, videos or websites as we have a projector, sounds, and internet in all venues and classes. FAQ Do I need a ticket for each member of my group?
